Discover the history of our Island

The island of Elba is one of the seven islands that are part of the Tuscan archipelago and is the third largest island in Italy.
Elba, and in particular the eastern side where La Casina Vintage is located, has generated deep interest in many civilisations, already since the Etruscans, in 700 BC because of the iron mines.
Second only to Brazil in variety of minerals, the island gives us an incredible variety of landscapes and biotopes that are even more noticeable if we visit it by sea.
Its particular geomorphology makes it a coveted destination for scholars and geologists around the world.
The beaches and coves, over 110 throughout the island, on this side are the most authentic and wild, but almost all offer the most requested services, such as sunbeds and umbrellas, as well as food and drinks.
The numerous restaurants overlooking the sea or in the ancient centre of the country make Rio Marina a destination for tourism that loves good food and dolce vita, to be enjoyed among the sea, woods and mines.
Bars, ice cream parlours, bakeries, supermarkets and the local market are distributed throughout the country, just a few steps from the Vintage Casino.
The "tower beach" is less than 100 metres away, here, Gino, will get you deckchairs and umbrellas and a reficillo at all hours of the day.
Along the panoramic promenade, right next to the plains tower, you will find descents under the trees, one after the other, which will take you to the most evocative coves in a few minutes' walk.
The Great Elban Crossing, which runs diagonally through the island from northeast to southwest, captures more and more trekking enthusiasts and starts from the cable.
A large number of marked paths immersed in nature and in island colours are a few steps from the Vintage Casina.
In the municipality of Rio we find the mining museum, the mine excursions on foot or by means of transport made available by the Mining Park and the municipality itself.
A few kilometres away, also in the municipality of Rio, the village of Cavo will welcome you and make you fall in love with its beaches and its promenade, the free and equipped establishments, the restaurants and pizzerias.
Rio Elba, the village inside the hill that precedes Rio Marina, also has a particular and evocative charm where you can visit the old washhouses and the Civic Archeological Museum.
The beaches of Nisportino, Nisporto and Bagnaia, always part of our municipality, are surrounded by the most lush greenery and delicious restaurants right on the shoreline.
A short distance away the Costa Bianca, a national park on land and at sea.
The rugged coast of the island allows you to always find a sheltered corner with crystal clear waters, regardless of the wind.
